<image:caption>Mat has 20+ years of experience working in the building trades and holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts from MassArt and a Master of Architecture from LTU. Mat brings his eye for design to every project, which is why OBWI is known for its innovative craftsmanship and great attention to detail. Mat started O’Brien Wood & Iron in 2008 in order to provide clients with honest and highly crafted builds. Other than art and design, his background includes a love of Historic Restoration and an interest in high-efficiency and sustainable building practices. When not cheerfully interacting with the day-to-day operations of the business, Mat spends his time with his lovely wife, two daughters, and his pup in and around the woods of Maine.</image:caption>

<image:caption>Hallie joined the team in the beginning of 2026 and has a background in the art education, visitor experience, operations and team leadership. She holds an MA in museum education from Tufts. After taking a career pivot away from the museum field, Hallie spent 4 years running a complex, growing business in Maine. This included the opportunity to design and manage the renovation of an RV park into a luxury camping destination, complete with cabins, glamping tents, and a spa, and was her first professional experience with the building and trades industry. Outside of work, you can find her fixing up her own old house, at the art studio, or, in the summer, working for her sister’s oyster business.</image:caption>

<image:caption>Joe Lendway found carpentry over twenty years ago when he was looking for something to do between ski seasons out in Lake Tahoe. His passion for woodworking continued to grow and, after moving back east, he enrolled in the Woodworking and Furniture Design program at the Maine College of Art in Portland. Joe received his BFA with honors in 2015 and he spent the next five years designing and building custom furniture and teaching woodworking classes. He joined the O'Brien crew in 2020. He currently manages the O'Brien woodshop, where he and his dog Okie, and our other team members produce all of our custom cabinetry, furniture, molding, and millwork.</image:caption>

<image:caption>Tsultrim began woodworking in 2015 handcrafting Tibetan guitars at the Tibetan Institute of Performing Arts in Dharamshala, India. Originally from Tibet, he came to the United States in 2018 with his wife and dog. He completed his certificate in construction from Southern Maine Community College and has worked with several teams doing both residential and commercial construction across Southern Maine. After work, he's usually outside with his dog, Yeti, or playing cornhole.</image:caption>

<image:caption>Olivia started her career in the trades in Burlington, Vermont, and has recently moved to Portland to surround herself in a new environment with like-minded, non traditional trades people. She has spent much of her life dedicated to growing the female presence in freestyle skiing, and now is a part of the Salomon street skiing team, Départ. Pondering, learning, laughing, and connecting with her crew are an integral part of her day while she is not busy with her role as the site intimidator. When she is not swinging a hammer, she spends her time exploring Portland and seeking for her new community.</image:caption>

<image:title>About - Make it stand out</image:title>
<image:caption>A relative newcomer to the trade, Lou began working in construction upon moving to Maine in March of 2024. After receiving their Bachelor's degree in western Massachusetts, they worked in an 1830's historic house, where their interest in carpentry began. Lou brings curiosity to the job site, wanting to understand how we can build better for ourselves and for the climate. Outside of work, you can find them trying new recipes, reading science fiction, and occasionally enjoying trashy reality television with their partner and cat.</image:caption>
